Telangana Jagruthi Chairperson Kalvakuntla Kavitha, daughter of TRS President K. Chandrashekar Rao, is expected to achieve the rare distinction of being the only woman to represent the new state of Telangana in the Lok Sabha.
It might be mentioned here that Kavitha as a TRS nominee is the only woman in the election fray for a parliament seat in total 17 constituencies in Telangana. As a TRS candidate for the Nizamabad Lok Sabha seat, she is taking on Congress sitting member Madhu Yashki Goud, Y. Lakshminarayan of BJP and S.Ravinder Reddy of YSRCP. There are in all 16 contestants in the field.
According to intelligence reports Kavitha is likely to emerge victorious defearting all the three nearest opponents including the sitting Congress candidate Madhu Yashki Goud. Thus with het victory she would achieve he rare distinction of being the only woman from the T State in the Lok Sabha.
Another new entrant to the Lok Sabha from the T State is expected to be Konda Visveshwar Reddy, again a TRS nominee entering the election fray for the Chevella Lok Sabha seat, which was won in 2009 by the Union Minister S.Jaipal Reddy.
Being the grandson of former Deputy Chief Minister late Konda Ranga Reddy and son of Justice Konda Madhava Reddy, Visveshwar Reddy’s victory is sated to be inevitable based on the T sentiments and also due to the image and reputation of his politically well known family among the electorate. He is pitted against the Congress nominee K. Karthik Reddy, son of former Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, also a new entrant in the poll battle.
It will be interesting note here that two former IAS officers— Jayaprakadh Narayan of Lok Satta and Chaya Ratan of Aam Admi Party — and a former IPS officer and retired DGP Dinesh Reddy of YSRCP, who are all trying their luck to make an entry into parliament from Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency might not be lucky in their attempt, according to intelligent reports. They along with the Union Minister Sarve Satyanarayana are likely to taste the defeat at the hands of the BJP nominee Malla Reddy, the reports indicted. (NSS)
