Rapists of ‘willing’ girl survive tough punishment

Two rapists in Britain escaped harsh punishment after the judge observed their 11-year-old victim was “willing”. The duo, however, received 40 months in jail.

Roshane Channer and Ruben Monteiro, both 21, attacked the girl while a third person filmed the act. The duo claimed in the court that the victim looked at least 14 and the judge agreed, the Sun reported.

Judge David Farrell (QC) said: “Despite her age it is accepted she was a willing participant.”

Channer, of no fixed address, and Monteiro, of Luton town, Bedfordshire, admitted rape. They will be on the sex offenders register for life.

Yvonne Traynor, chief executive of the Rape Crisis charity, said the sentences were “among the worst” she had heard.
