Jamshedpur, August 28: A one-and-a-half-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped by her neighbour, was struggling for life in the intensive care unit (paediatrics) of Tata Main hospital here.
The baby was still in a state of drowsiness and has been put on oxygen as her condition was unstable, hospital sources said today.
The girl was raped on Tuesday night by a youth, who lifted her through an open window of her house in Carriage Colony Muslim bustee, when she was sleeping.
After raping the girl, the youth fled the spot leaving her crying, her father Atar Khan said.
The baby was admitted to the intensive care unit of M G M Hospital from where she was referred to Tata Main hospital yesterday, sources added.
Many of her neighbours and relatives have been questioned but nobody was arrested, police added.
