Leaders belonging to ruling and opposition parties are busy playing caste p[olitics in Haryana stooped to a new low on Tuesday when leaders in the ruling alliance as well as the Opposition indulged in vote bank gimmicks and blame- game over the rape and suicide of a minor Dalit girl at Sacha Khera village in Jind district.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi visited the family of the girl who set herself ablaze after being raped by her neighbours on Saturday. She assured the mourning family of strict action against those responsible for the heinous crime and offered financial security and employment to the relatives of the victim.
Sonia’s words of comfort, however, failed to soothe the tempers of the Opposition parties which dismissed her visit as a “ political stunt” aimed at wooing section of voters without hurting the sentiments of the party’s biggest vote bank.
The Congress president arrived at the village around 10 am and spent 20 minutes with the grieving family members, extending her sympathy and terming their misery as a personal loss. She was accompanied by chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Union minister Kumari Selja, Haryana minister Randeep Singh Surjewala and Congress MP from Sirsa, Ashok Tanwar. Sonia said gang rapes and other heinous crimes against women were not restricted to Haryana alone but were rampant throughout the country. “ It ( rape) is happening everywhere across the country.
Strict action will be taken against the culprits,” she said.

SEP 21:In Jind, a married woman was gang- raped at gunpoint inside her house in Pillukhera.
SEP 28:The gang rape of a teenage girl by four youth was reported in Gohana town of Sonepat district.
SEP 28:A newly- married woman was allegedly abducted and gang- raped by four men in Banwasa village under Gohana sub- division of Sonepat.
