Muzaffarnagar, May 07: A year after the incident, police has registered a rape case against an engineer at Shamli town in the district. The engineer, working in the Uttar Pradesh Electricity Department, had raped the victim on April 22, 2009, police said.
The victim had earlier alleged that the police refused to register an FIR in the case. The case was registered against the accused on the directive of a senior police officer yesterday.
Meanwhile, one person has been taken into custody for interrogation.
