Angry villagers of Salbari in Chirang district in Assam gheroed and beatup rape accused politician and Assam Congress(I) leader Bikram Singh Brahma before handing over to local police.
Mr Brahma, who is the Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD) Congress Co-ordination Committee President, was reportedly nabbed by angry residents in Salbari around 2 am this morning when he allegedly tried rape the woman, who is a mother of two children.Salbari is a remote area in Chirang district of Assam .
“Prima facie there is a case of sexual assault by Brahma. As soon as the FIR is lodged and the case is registered he will be arrested. He is now with the police.” The IGP said that Brahma might have been sexually abusing the woman for past several months in lieu of making her a beneficiary of government schemes. “After he forcibly entered her house last night, she raised an alarm and the villagers caught him and handed him over to police after beating him up,” the IGP said.
