Thane: Seven years of rigorous imprisonment was sentenced to a rape accused who raped a minor in 2015 by a special court in Thane according to reports.
Special POCSO court judge P P Jadhav convicted the 28-year-old rape accused Shabbir Mulani and fined him with Rs. 30,000.
The Judge found him guilty under IPC sections 376 (rape) and 312 (causing miscarriage), and also under section 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, PTI reported.
Prosecutor Vivek G Kadu, appearing for the prosecution said the accused was jewelry contractor and made imitation jewellery. He used to collect material from Mulani’s unit for assembling the jewelry.
He added that the accused called the victim to his unit for packing the jewelry on May 20, 2015 when the victim was 17-years-old. When the victim arrived for work, he sexually assaulted her.
Just two months later when the victim was admitted into the hospital for her health issues she was found to be two months pregnant.
And when the accused learned about her pregnancy he forced her to take pregnancy termination pills for which the victim suffered a miscarriage.
The prosecution also told that since the accused had been threatening the victim she chose not to disclose about the sexual assault but later narrated her ordeal to one of her family members who filed a complaint against the accused.
