New Delhi, May 13: A forum to discuss the Ranganath Mishra Commission report today accused the UPA Government of trying to use the recommendations to serve its “political interests” by appeasing minorities.
“The report has been converted into a political tool and is being used for vote bank politics,” BJP spokesperson Ramnath Kovind said.
He said while nobody was against providing special package to the minorities, extending “double benefits” would create difficulties for schedule castes from the majority community.
Kovind is also the national convener of the SC Aarakshan Bachaoo Manch which organised the discussion on ‘SCs and the Ranganath Mishra Commission report’.
Senior journalist Chandan Mitra said the reports of the Sachar Committee and the Ranganath Mishra Commission should be seen together to understand the “political conspiracy” aimed at attacking the very base of the Constitution.
