Ramzan: CM to review arrangements

Hyderabad, August 08: Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy will chair a meeting at the Secretariat on August 13 to review the arrangements for the Ramzan festival. Ramzan month will begin in another 15 days.

In response to the MIM members querries during Zero Hour proceedings in the State Assembly today, Minister Danam Nagender informed that the Government has already instructed the departments concerned to take necessary steps to provide required facilities, including street lights, drinking water, repairs to mosques etc., before commencement of Ramzan month. He assured the members that the Government will provide all facilities for the festival.

Demand for power reaches record high

HYDERABAD: Even as the State is reeling under the impact of adverse seasonal conditions leading to a shortfall in generation of power, the demand for electricity has reached a record high.

The APTrasco has supplied a whopping 222 million units yesterday which is a historical high, against 166 million units supplied on the same day last year recording an increase by 42 per cent. Today at about 6 a.m., the APTrasco met a peak demand of 10,294 mw which is also a historical high against 7,270 mw on the same day last year registering an increase of 42 per cent.
