New Delhi: Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal on Saturday has issued a notice to Delhi Police, asking them to provide details regarding the manhandling of women protestor.
“The Commission has come across shocking video footages and news reports wherein, Delhi Police officers are seen mercilessly beating and punching women protestors. The Commission is of the view that these attacks on women protestors by policemen may also amount to molestation and need to be severely punished,” said the DCW statement.
The DCW has also asked the police to provide information about the number of male and female officers deployed in and around Ramjas College and the Murice Nagar Police Station, as well as the names and designations of police officers identifed in the videos as seen punching and manhandling the women protestors.
Taking note of similar women protestors manhandling cases by the police, the DCW said such incidents malign the image of force. (ANI)
