Ramgopal Varma quizzed for four hours, asked to come again on Friday

Hyderabad: The Central Crime Station police on Saturday interrogated eminent film director Ramgopal Varma for four hours with regard to ‘God Sex and Truth’ web series case following a complaint lodged by social activist Devi. The police also seized a laptop of Varma and issued him notice to appear for next quizzing on Friday.

Speaking to the media later, DCP Raghuveer said Varma said he only gave the concept to the film but not directed the film and also didn’t release GST film. Raghuveer said they collected some technical issues from Varma. The film director told the police that film was shot in Poland and the UK. The DCP said they were interrogating Varma whether he went to those countries or not. Varma sought time to some questions, the DCP told. He told the police that an American Production House produced the film and he didn’t take any remuneration for the film. He challenged the media to prove if there any evidence that he took money from the film producers. He said he didn’t violate the Indian laws. “I didn’t chide social activist Devi intentionally but it turned as a dispute with verbal war’’, he said.

He tried to escape from the allegations he was facing. The interrogation started at 12 noon and ended at 4 pm. (NSS)
