RANCHI: Following the brutal mob lynching of Muslim trader in Ramgarh district of Jharkhand, women from the community threaten to pick up arms against self-styled ‘Gau-Bhakts’.
“Mob justice would be meted with mob-justice,” said Mariam Khatun, the widow of the dead trader.
Women flooded around her house to console her nodded in agreement.
Alimuddin also known as Asgar Ali, was lynched by a strong mob of 100 on suspicion that he was transporting beef and set his vehicle on fire in Jharkhand’s Ramgarh on the 30th of June.
The women said to the Hindustan Times that they don’t have faith with the police anymore and also believe that the government is in cahoots with the cow-terrorists.
Everyone in the Muslim-majority village of 350 households feel victimized and constantly living in fear worrying that male members of their family will be the next victims.
“We are scared of rising incidents of lynching targeting only Muslim men in the state. These are not accidents but a deliberate act of few groups supported by the administration,” said Mamina Khatun.
“If government can’t act, we will pick up arms against them to save our men,” she said.
Abida Khatun, another resident of the village asked, “Why do people of a particular community have so much interest in our eating habit, when we do not peep into their kitchen?
