Ramdev and Ravi Shankar humbly say NO to Padma awards

There has been a buzz that centre will honoured Yoga guru Ramdev and spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar but the two humbly say no to Padma Bhushan award.

Ramdev in a letter to Home Minister Rajnath Singh has written that he as a “sadhu” would not like to be felicitated.

“I am a ‘sanyasi’ and want to serve the country without expecting anything,” he said, adding that a recluse must remain the same while he is honoured or disrespected.

“I urge you to give this honour to somebody doing something great. I would be grateful to you,” he said.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankarm who heads the Art of Living Foundation took to Twitter to inform about his decision.

“Rajnath Singhji called to inform me about Padma Awards. I thank Govt for considering me. Instead of me, I’d like them to honour someone else,” he tweeted.
