Hyderabad, July 23: Stating that he has not received any letter suspending him from the party so far, the PCC general secretary, Mr Ambati Rambabu, on Thursday alleged that some “wicked forces” might have deliberately misled the Congress high command against him.
Speaking to mediapersons here, Mr Rambabu said that he received the information about his reported suspension from the party only from friends, admirers and the media. He reiterated that he had never violated the party discipline and remained a loyal soldier for the last 20 years and never aspired for posts.
Admitting that he was served with a show-cause notice on July 9 over his alleged remarks against the Chief Minister, Mr K Rosaiah, Mr Rambabu said that he had appeared before the Party Disciplinary Committee on July 12 and sought time for two weeks to submit his explanation. Accordingly, the committee sympathetically considered his request and gave him time till July 31, he said and urged the high command to take appropriate action after July 31.
Mr Rambabu also disclosed that he would write to the AICC general secretary incharge of AP Affairs, Mr Veerappa Moily, pleading him to reconsider the suspension slapped against him. He said that he underwent mental torture and was still in a quandary as to why the party suspended him and for how long.
Stating that the Congress party was like his mother and the high command had power to punish the erring partymen, Mr Rambabu clarified that he had only made political criticism against the Chief Minister, but not personal attack.
