Raipur, August 15: Reiterating the government’s commitment to get rid of Naxalism completely, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh today announced a slew of welfare schemes.
Some of the major announcements made by Singh include free power to farmers having 5 HP irrigation pumps, bill to ensure right to food for all in the state and Chhattisgarh Rural Core Project to ensure presence of doctors and other medical staff in rural areas.
“One of the major fallouts of disparity in development in the country is Naxalism. However, now all known that they are a threat to society,” he said addressing the people from Lal Parade Ground on the occasion of 63rd Independence Day.
Of the welfare schemes announced include Shakti Swarup Yojana under which higher education, professional training and self-employment would be provided to widows, and divorced women.
Similarly, a government engineering college would be set up at Ambikapur while efforts are on to establish polytechnic colleges at Koria, Raipur, Gariband, Kaker, Dantewada, Naryaranpur, Jashpur and Baikhantpur, he said.
