Injustices on linguistic basis began with the merger of Hyderabad state in the Indian Union and in the aftermath of united Andhra Pradesh state. Before the merger of Hyderabad state in the Indian Union Hyderabad was the icon of multi-lingual culture. By targeting it in a planned manner Telangana’s Telugu and Urdu culture was totally changed. Social activist Rama Malkote told this while talking about justice to marginalized sections in the proposed Telangana state. She recounted that Urdu was the official language of Hyderabad state but rising hegemony of non-local persons in the state administration changed the status of Urdu language. Urdu which is one of the sweet and beautiful languages was delinked with the employment and thus it was taken to the verge of destruction.
Rama Malkote also alleged Andhrite rulers of hatching conspiracies against political and economic status of Muslims. She claimed that opportunist historians distorted the great history of Hyderabadi Muslims and thus created gaps between Hindus and Muslims of Telangana. Urdu language was exploited by linking Urdu language with Muslims.
Mrs. Rama Malkote stressed the need to form committees to restore the real history of Hyderabad state and include it in the syllabus.
