Filmmaker Ram Gopal Verma sparked off a major controversy after he posted offensive tweets on Lord Ganesha and the festival of Ganapati.
The director’s comments were criticised by leaders from political parties, with BJP leaders calling for his immediate apology for his blasphemous statement.
“It’s highly condemnable, we must take action against him,” said the BJP on Ram Gopal Varma’s tweets.
He wrote on his wall:
The guy who couldn’t save his own head from being cut , how he will save others heads is my question? But Happy Ganpathi day to morons!
The tweet has gone viral and has caused a lot of outrage on the social network site.
The VHP has also called for an immediate action against the director, saying that he has offended the Hindu sentiments. “Varma should be sent to jail for such atrocious comments. His comments can even lead to a riot. Maharashtra government will be responsible for the situation if it leads to any kind of problem,” said VHP leader Prakash Sharma.
