Ram Gopal Varma scares Mumbai with his shallow publicity act

Mumbai, August 04: Just days after facing the flak for using a tampered version of National Anthem as theme song of his forthcoming movie ‘Rann’, Ram Gopal Varma has landed in yet another murky controversy.

And like other times, the taskmaster has masterminded this one too. Out to get eyeballs at all cost, the director sent a chill down Mumbaikars when they woke up on Monday morning to find a dead man covered in blood hanging from a hoarding.

Shocked? Don’t be. The shallow act was nothing but an obtuse publicity stunt to promote his upcoming movie ‘Agyaat’. Apparently, the director felt that hanging a dead man’s dummy was more attractive than Priyanka Kothari skin show techniques.

But it took quite a while for the city to realise that the hoarding had a dummy hanging than an actual dead man. According to a news daily, the hoarding sent the city into a tizzy. Those who travelled on Monday morning were horrified and started making hysterical calls to the police control room. A huge crowd gathered near the hoarding that was put up near the Goregoan flyover.

And it was only after the cops removed the dummy from the hoardings that the people believed that it wasn’t a human body. What’s more is that the police control room continued to get similar calls throughout the day.

Confirming the news, Sub Inspector of Amboli Police Station, Ravikant Sawant said, “We got a call in the morning from a passerby who saw the hoarding at Anna Nagar, near Chitrakoot grounds, Andheri. He thought a dead body was hanging on a film poster as there was blood all over him. We sent a police van immediately.

Initially, even we thought the same. Only after removing it, did we realise that it was just a dummy. We have removed it and kept it at our police station so that no one has that issue again.”

Ramu sure knows how to send to thrills from his gory chills!
