Rakhi’s pistol thieves sent back to UP

Mumbai, June 26: The Mumbai police have sent back the criminals who stole Rakhi Gulzar’s pistol from her residence, to Uttar Pradesh (UP) yesterday, as they were unable to file any charges against them.

The UP police arrested the two while trying to sell the Italy-made 8mm pistol, worth Rs 4 lakh in Pratapgarh.
After keeping them in custody for 12 days, they were got to Mumbai on June 10.

The accused, Chandrakant Mishra (24), has three charges against him and Keshavkumar Pandey (28) has been booked in UP. Mastermind of the burglary, Baby Kumar Shrawan, is absconding.

A police official said, “Mishra claims he and Pandey are not involved. He went to UP to sell the gun and did not know it was stolen. Mishra got the gun from Shrawan, who asked him to sell it.”

Police Sub Inspector N Gaikwad of Bandra police station said, “Mishra has been booked under sections 454, 457 and 380. Keshavkumar has been freed by the Mumbai police. He has been booked in UP under 307 of IPC.”

Pandey and Mishra are originally from Pratapgarh. Mishra has a house in Dharavi, while Pandey used to drive a taxi in the city.
