Rakhi Bidlan appointed as Deputy Speaker of Delhi Assembly

New Delhi : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Rakhi Bidlan was on Friday appointed as the Deputy Speaker of the Delhi Assembly.

The former women and child development minister took over Shalimar Bagh MLA Bandana Kumari after Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel accepted her resignation on June 4.

Kumari tendered her resignation to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal taking moral responsibility of the defeat of Shalimar Bagh candidate Anvika Mittal in the MCD by-polls in her constituency.

29-year-old Bidlan, who is an AAP MLA from Mangolpuri, is a prominent Dalit face of the party. (ANI)
