Congress Tirupati Legislator and ertswhile Praja Rajayam Party (PRP) President K Chiranjeevi today termed his selection for the Rajya Sabha seat by the Congress High Command as a ‘promotion.’ Talking to reporters after filing papers in the Assembly, Mr Chiranjeevi said ‘I will do my best to ensure the Congress Party’s victory in the state in the 2014 Assembly Elections.’ Stating that he was very attached to temple town of Tirupati as he was a legislator, the actor-turned politican said ‘though I will tender my resignation from the Tirupati Assembly Seat following my elevation to the Rajya Sabha, I will continue to be with the people (here)’. Putting to rest the media reports, he ruled out his family members contesting the Tirupati seat which is being vacated by him. UNI
