Rajnath Singh to visit Tripura today, meet refugees of Bru community

Home Minister Rajnath Singh will be visiting Tripura on Saturday and is likely to interact with refugees of Bru community.

He is also expected to tour some of the border areas along the Chittagong Hill Tracts of Bangladesh and meet jawans of the Assam Rifles who protect the international border, the PTI reported.

Singh embarked on a two-day visit to Manipur and Tripura yesterday and visited Moreh, the border trading centre between India and Myanmar.

The Home Minister, accompanied by Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju, also visited the ‘Friendship Bridge’ which connects India and Myanmar at Moreh.

Moreh is a small border town situated on the banks of Lokchao river and the central government is setting up an integrated trade centre which will be functional soon.

Later in the evening, the Home Minister reviewed the security situation in Manipur with Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and top security officials in Imphal.
