Rajnath reviews CISF ops preparedness

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today reviewed the operational preparedness of the CISF, tasked with the security of vital assets of the country like airports and installations in the nuclear and aerospace domain.

During the meeting in the Home Ministry here, the force also sought “expeditious approval” of augmentation of manpower proposals for important deployments for its duties at airports and the Delhi Metro.

CISF Director General O P Singh also made a presentation during the meeting where the force explained to the Home Minister and other officials the emerging needs of appropriate gadgets and equipment especially for security of government buildings, VIP security and during duties while rendering various internal security duties.

The DG, a ministry statement said, also informed the meeting about the cadre review proposal of the force that is aimed to increasing the promotional avenues in various ranks.

“He (DG) further informed that the strength of CISF personnel has been enhanced recently and there is a need for filling up these posts on priority,” the statement added.

The Home Minister directed his ministry to dispose all pending proposals on priority especially those related to the welfare and development of the force personnel.

“The Home Minister also appreciated the efforts of CISF personnel in various duties being performed by them,” it added.

The 1.45 lakh personnel paramilitary secures 59 civil airports of the country at present.
