New Delhi: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence on Monday evening to apprise the Prime Minister about the situation arising out of the Jat agitation and violence in Haryana.

Meanwhile, a five-member committee set up by the BJP to look into the quota demand, held its first meeting this evening. The committee, headed by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu, took stock of the situation and discussed how to move forward in the matter.

The hour-long meeting was attended by Union Ministers Mahesh Sharma and Sanjeev Baliyan and party leaders Satpal Malik and Avinash Rai Khanna, who are the members of the committee.

Sources said the committee is likely to talk to Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and other state ministers on Tuesday for ascertaining the state government’s views on the issue. (ANI)
