Jaipur, August 10: Leader of Opposition in Rajasthan Assembly, Vasundhara Raje, today sought to nail the government for the state not being declared drought-hit, saying the “sluggish” dispensation hasn”t yet sent a list of affected districts to the Centre.
“Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Bihar, Uttrakhand, Asam, Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh were declared as drought- affected, but not Rajasthan, even as drought looms large over the state.
This is due to sluggishness of the state government,” Raje told reporters here. “During a meeting of state chief secretaries on August 8, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had said that he has not received the list of drought affected districts of Rajasthan.
“On July 28, Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar told the Lok Sabha that the Centre has not received any proposal in this regard,” she said. Claiming that these observations established that the government has not taken steps to counter drought, she demanded relief works and waiver of bank loans of farmers.
