New Delhi: Vasundhara Raje seems to have finally given in and has agreed to resign from the post of Leader of Opposition in Rajasthan Assembly, reports claimed Friday.
Raje’s resignation came after she met L K Advani at his residence in Delhi. As per reports, Advani clearly told Raje that she has to go, following which she tendered her resignation to the party High Command.
Incidentally, the BJP parliamentary board is scheduled to meet later in the evening today. The board was meeting to discuss the loss in the recent state elections and the Raje issue.
Raje had been, post the electoral debacle, had been resisting all moves to remove her from the chair of Leader of Opposition.
In fact, just two days back, Raje had skipped the appointment with party’s pointsperson Sushma Swaraj to discuss her fate.
Raje had, off late, developed the habit of remaining incommunicado, leaving the party guessing about her next move.
There were apprehensions that Raje may demand removal of those at the helm of party affairs in the elections to Maharashtra and Haryana in the Parliamentary meet before she steps down.
The party High Command had asked Raje in August to own up moral responsibility for BJP’s defeat in the Lok Sabha and the state Assembly polls and step down as Leader of Opposition in the Assembly.
