Jaipur: Due to the negligence of doctors at a multi-specialty government run hospital, a woman had to deliver her baby on the road. The state government in Rajasthan has ordered an enquiry into the matter.
Suman Sharma, Chairperson of the state women’s commission has also summoned Jaipuria Hospital Administration for the negligence. “This is quite shocking. A five member committee has been constituted which will submit their report to the government,” Sharma told media.
The woman is a construction labourer, who was first admitted at the CHC, a primary health centre in Jaipur’s Sanganer area. But due to her critical conditions with high blood pressure and other high-risk symptoms, doctors referred her to the nearby Jaipuria Hospital, a government-run hospital with multi-specialty units, reports DH.
However, the family members alleged that she had to deliver outside the hospital as the doctors failed to attend to her on time on Friday night.
Ashoka Bai’s sister-in-law Kesua said that “the doctors did not attend Ashoka and asked to leave as they felt that there is a delay in delivery. They neglected her labour pain and we were asked to leave the hospital premises.”
The police also reached the spot and the woman and the newborn were later admitted to another hospital at Sanganer. The state health minister has ordered an inquiry into the matter and asked the chief medical and health officer of the district to submit a report in this regard.
