Jaipur: Rajasthan government passed an ordinance on Friday, seeking protection of serving/former judges, magistrates and public servants from being probed without its prior sanction. The ordinance also seeks to bar the media from reporting on accusations till the sanction is obtained.
“No magistrate shall order an investigation nor will any investigation be conducted against a person, who is or was a judge or a magistrate or a public servant,” reads the ordinance which provides 180 days immunity to the officers, reports Hindustan Times.
However, the decision of Vasundhara Raje led government is being criticised on social media for protecting judges and babus from the public as well as media’s scrutiny.
The reaction shared on Twitter also said that the move will further protect the corrupt.
Wake up India. While you’ve been chilling over the long Diwali weekend, Rajasthan’s ordinance proclaims itself new Republic of North Korea

Does the state have the legislative authority to pass such an ordinance granting self-immunity from the judiciary? #Rajasthan
