After Rajasthan killing, miscreants attempt to burn Imam alive

ALIGARH: Just two days after a Muslim from Rajasthan was brutally hacked and burnt alive in the name of Love Jihad; attempt was made to burn the Imam of Jama Masjid alive.

The incident took place at around 10:30 pm in Jama Masjid mosque, located just 30 meters away from the police checkpoint in Jattari town of Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh district.

According to a report published in Amar Ujala, Mohd Sabib Raza, the Imam of the mosque, alleged that he heard some noise near his room. The unknown miscreants after locking the door of Imam’s room from outside allegedly sprinkled petrol and threw a burning matchstick from window in an attempt to burn him alive.

The imam horrified imam somehow informed the residents from the neighbourhood by mobile about the incident. The people of both the communities rushed the spot and rescued him.

The bed, mats, clothes and religious books inside were burnt.

A case on Friday has been registered under section 436, 326 A and 295 A of IPC against unknown miscreants.

The 29-year-old Imam is a native of Purnia district of Bihar and joined as the Imam a year ago. He has no dispute with anyone till date.

Earlier on Wednesday, a migrant laborer Afarajul was first brutally hacked and then burnt alive in the name of Love Jihad in Rajasthan‘s Rajsamand district.

A video of the killing also went viral on social media platforms.
