Hyderabad, August 01: The State Assembly Friday witnessed a heated exchange of words between Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and Opposition leader N Chandrababu Naidu over filling up the vacant Government posts for tribals.
Replying to a query by TDP MLAs, the Tribal Welfare Minister P Balaraju said the Government has directed all departments to fill the 3,903 backlog vacancies and the process will be completed soon.
TDP members asked the Government to spell out a time-frame to fill up the posts but the minister said the process will be completed at the earliest.
Intervening in the debate, TDP chief Naidu said the backlog posts needed to be filled up at the earliest and that the Government is delaying the process.
Naidu’s comments drew sharp reaction from the treasury benches and the Chief Minister said the State and the Centre have left no stone unturned for ensuring tribals welfare.
The TDP regime did not fill Government posts as per World Bank suggestions, he alleged.
Referring to Naidu’s observations that he and Congress MLAs needed training, Reddy sarcastically said “you give us time. We will come and learn from you how to speak.’’ Naidu then said he would definitely offer training to the Chief Minister.
Intervening Speaker Kiran Kumar Reddy said the House needs the guidance from both the leaders who have started their politcal career in the same year and both had the experience of being the chief ministers.
