Hyderabad: Newly appointed TPCC working president Ponnam Prabhakar has said Congress MLC Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy was from NSUI and Youth Congress and got party’s MP ticket directly in 2009 elections. The party will examine whom Rajagopal Reddy dubbed ‘brokers and jokers’ in the party.
Ponnam also advised Rajagopal Reddy to vent his unhappiness before AICC Chief Rahul Gandhi if he had any problems or discuss them in party forum. Ponnam said feuding and discontent were not only in the Congress but also in the TRS party. “We will fight against caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao unitedly though there were petty differences among Congress leaders”, he said.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday for the first time after becoming TPCC working president, Ponnam thanked the party high command for offering him working president post. He said he would spare no efforts to strengthen the party leading it to victory in the elections. He also said justice will be done to backward and weaker sections, he said. He said the party would take the “failures” of the State and Central governments to the people’s attention.
Ponnam observed creation of separate Telangana State would not have been possible even after 300 years had UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi granted it honoring sentiments of the Telangana people. He also alleged that there was no role of KCR in Parliament during passage of Telangana Bill.
