Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal on Tuesday responded to the challenge of Telugu Desam star campaigner and actor Nandamuri Balakrishna to contest from Vijayawada in 2014 elections.
Talking to media persons after participating in a series of development programmes in Nandigama in Krishna district, Lagadapati Rajagopal stated that he would re-contest from Vijayawada parliamentary constituency in the 2014 elections. He expressed confidence that he would win the next elections despite Balakrishna entering political scene.
Rajagopal condemned TDP MLA Devineni Umamaheshara Rao for linking Praja Rajyam leader K Chiranjeevi’s name to leasing of Bhavani Islands. He said that Chiranjeevi has no connection to awarding of lease of Bhavani Islands to Minister for Infrastructure and Investments Ganta Srinivasarao’s firm Pratyusha Associates. Accusing the TDP for launching malicious campaign against Bhavani Islands, he said no rules were violated during the award of lease.
The Vijaywada MP said that Speaker Nadendla Manohar would disqualify Jagan group MLAs by March end for defying the party whip. The Speaker will take action against 17 MLAs on the lines of Kovur constituency MLA Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy. (INN)
