Hyderabad, July 19: Passengers travelling in Hazarat Nizamuddin-Bangalore Rajadhani Express were robbed of their valuables and cash in the wee hours of today. According to sources, the robbers entered the train at Jhansi station in Madhya Pradesh and took away Rs 15 lakh cash, mobile phones worth Rs 5 lakh and laptops and other belongings from the passengers. The passengers alleged that though they complained to the railway police in Nagpur, they did not register a case.
The robbers spent almost half-an-hour in the train and looted the passengers in A-1, A-2, A-3 and A-4 bogies, it is learnt. However, when the train reached Khazipet, the passengers lodged their protest alleging that though the RPF personnel were present in the train, they failed to act.
Meanwhile, Warangal MP S Rajaiah pacified and assured them that he would bring the lapse of RPF staff to the notice of Railway Minister Mamata Benerjee.
However, Railway authorities said that a case was registered by railway police in Nagpur.
