Raja Singh stays on non-Hindu Dandiya comment

A show-cause notice on Goshamahal BJP MLA Raja Singh for his alleged controversial comment to bar non-Hindus from participating in `Dandiya’ during Navaratri,

Raja Singh has asked police to clarify under what sections he has to give an explanation.

Singh’s statement was published in Hindi Milap daily and Telugu daily “Namasthe Telangana” which may create antagonism or hatred or ill-will between the religious groups leading to communal violence.

A notice was issued to Singh by Hyderabad police on September 26, asking him to give explanation within two days why action should not be initiated against him for his appeal at a press conference to keep a tight rein on non-Hindus from participating in Dandiya.

Singh asked police to be specific since there was no clear mention about relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code or Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) in the notice while seeking his explanation.

“We got a reply from MLA Raja Singh and it has been referred for legal opinion. Based on the opinion, further action will be initiated,” deputy commissioner of police (West Zone) V Satyanarayana said.
