Mumbai, August 30: Firing fresh salvo against his erstwhile party, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray today blamed Shiv Sena for mushrooming illegal slums in Mumbai.
“Shiv Sena has failed to curb this menace despite they being at the helm in the corporation,” Raj said adding in fact, slums are increasing day by day.
Speaking at a public programme held here at suburban Vile Parle, he said, “I have been raising this issue even when I was with Sena, though within the party only.
However, I also agree that the slum rehabilitation scheme was passed during Sena-BJP regime only, he said.
He said he has taken up the issue with the Chief Minister, BMC Commissioner, and others but to no avail.
“Politicians are too busy to pay attention to these issues. They are busy with vote bank politics and elections,” he said.
Rubbishing the Sena-BJP’s allegations that Marathi votes were divided due to MNS in last Lok Sabha polls in the state, he said the saffron alliance lost in 2004 also, when MNS was not exist.
“Then how did my party divide the Marathi votes this time,” he asked adding voters voluntarily voted for MNS.
