Jodhpur: A 35-year-old man allegedly killed his two minor daughters and then hung himself from the ceiling fan of his house here this afternoon, police said.
They said the incident took place when the girls’ mother had gone to attend a religious function in the neighbourhood.
“It seems Devi Singh Rajput, a resident of Chopasni Housing Board and a dairy farm owner, first strangulated his daughters Meenakshi (6) and Deeksha (4) and then hanged them from the ceiling,” SHO (CHB) Jabbar Singh said.
Earlier, it appeared that he first hanged his daughters and then himself, he said, adding the police is waiting for the postmortem report.
The mother, on her return, found the main door locked from inside. Neighbours broke the door and found the bodies hanging from the ceiling, police said.
They informed the police immediately. The victims were declared brought dead by doctors at a hospital here, they said, adding the reason behind the gruesome incident is yet to be ascertained.
The matter is being investigated, police said.
