Raj govt failed to check violence against minority: Madani

Claiming that cases of violence against minority are on rise in Rajasthan, Rajya Sabha MP Mahmood Madani today demanded “sacking” of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.

He also asked for handing over the cases of Gopalgarh riots and Surwal incident to another independent agency, as
“CBI was being misused by the government”.

Madani, also general secretary of Jamiat, demanded that the trial in Surwal incident should be transferred to Jaipur or Delhi because local circumstances may affect fairness of the trial in local (Sawaimadhopur) court.

Phool Mohammad, SHO of Man town police station was set afire in his jeep by a mob in Surwal village on March 17 last year.

After protests, the state government had decided to refer the entire matter to the CBI on March 21.

“Ten members of minority community were killed in firing in Gopgalgarh in Bharatpur district, while a police inspector Phool Mohammad was burnt alive in Sawaimadhopur last year. We are not satisfied because the state government did not handle cases of violence on minority community people properly,” he told reporters at a press conference here.

Madani also demanded that the role of Dausa (LS) MP and tribal leader Kirori Lal should also be investigated in Surwal incident.

Cases of violence on minority are on rise in the state but the government is not serious for the protection of
minority community, he alleged.

The Rashtriya Lok Dal’s MP also raised demand that Chief Minister of Rajasthan should be removed for mishandling of
cases.

“Congress Working Committee in the leadership of late Rajiv Gandhi had passed a resolution that if a communal
violence occurs in Congress ruled state, the chief minister of that state will be removed.

“Now its turn for Rajasthan and on this basis, chief minister of Rajasthan should be removed by the party high
command,” he said.
