Jaipur: A day after some RTI activists were reportedly beaten up by a large group of people in Rajasthan, state BJP chief Ashok Parnami today sent a notice to party MLA Kanwar Lal Meena seeking his reply over allegations that he had “led” the group.

Taking cognisance of media reports over the incident that took place last night, Parnami issued the notice to Meena who represents Manohar Thana Assembly constituency and asked him to reply in seven days, a statement issued by BJP said.

Around 12 RTI activists associated with noted anti-graft crusaders Aruna Roy and Nikhil Dey, were allegedly beaten up by a large group of people, when they were conducting a road show on raising awareness about government accountability at Aklera area in Jhalawar.

Roy, who was not present at the incident site, in a statement had alleged members of the ‘yatra’ were attacked by men, led by BJP MLA Kanwar Meena, who broke their cameras and damaged windowpanes of their (activists) vehicles.

Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, CIP-M, People’s Union for Civil Liberty and others have condemned the attack.
