Hyderabad: As part of Haritha Haram program for expansion of green cover across the State, MA&UD Minister K T Rama Rao today asked the officials concerned to set up one government nursery in every civic body and also in all civic bodies across the State.
At a high-level review meeting with officials, KTR said, “On the directive of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, we should workout a plan to set up a nursery in every civic body in all districts. The officials should examine and set up nurseries in all the civic bodies in the State in a big way”. The minister said there was good response from the people on the government proposal of giving permission to construct new houses by making a mandatory rule of planting saplings. He also asked the officials to implement the same rule in all districts to plant saplings for new buildings by taking measures and change of norms and rules.
Develop 210 city junctions
The minister also asked to develop 210 road junctions in the twin cities and in first phase 10 road junctions with LED lights, zebra crossing, pedestrian way and beautification and complete others in a phased manner. It was decided to develop 210 junctions by spending Rs 60 crore and works related to 89 junctions need no land acquisition and it was estimated to spend Rs 12.5 crore, he said. If land acquisition was needed for other roads and junctions another round of meeting will be conducted, he said. To prepare an action plan for developing the roads and junctions, he asked to involve the officials of Roads & Buildings, Transport, Traffic Police and others. (NSS)
