Hyderabad, September 08: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday expressed happiness over the encouraging inflows into all the dames in the State. Thanking the rain gods for the continuous rainfall, particularly in the interiors, he was hopeful that this augured well for the Kharif season. Water has touched optimal levels at almost all the dams.
Reiterating that irrigation was his priority area, Mr Reddy said the inflow was so good that 26 crest gates had been opened at the Nagarjuna Sagar dam.
He was speaking to the media after performing special pooja at the mammoth Ganesh pandal at Khairtabad in the city along with his family members.
Earlier, he was given a traditional welcome with priests chanting religious hymns and the Labour Minister D Nagender, who represents Khairtabad in the Legislative Assembly, being there to receive the Chief Minister and his family.
Mr Reddy expressed confidence that farming activities would pick up with the onset of kharif crop. He was also hopeful that as a consequence, the economic conditions of the farming community would become robust.
He contended that a good crop meant that there would be an overall healthy situation in the State.
