Kolkata: Weathermen predicted rain or thundershower in some areas of the city with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to hover around 33 degrees Celsius and 27 degrees Celsius respectively.
According to a senior official of the MeT office, the southwest-monsoon has been active over sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.
“Heavy to very heavy rain occurred at isolated places over Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar districts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal.
“In the last 24 hours, rainfall occurred at most places of Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, Malda districts and at many places of Bankura, Murshidabad and Kolkata districts and at a few places over East Midnapore, Hooghly, Nadia, South and North 24 Parganas districts,” the official said.
Yesterday’s trough of low pressure from Northwest Bay of Bengal to Northeast Bay of Bengal still persists, the official said.
Rain or thundershower is likely to occur at most places of Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, Coochbehar districts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal and likely to occur at a few places of Gangetic West Bengal, the official stated.
