Rains lash few places in Punjab and Haryana

Chandigarh, August 06: Moderate to heavy rains lashed a few places in Punjab and Haryana today. In Punjab, Batala received a maximum rainfall of 39.5 mm while Gurdaspur had 12.1 mm rains.

Hoshiarpur (18.1 mm), Dasuya (4.6 mm), Mukerian (30.4 mm), Phillaur (19 mm), Balachaur (7.4 mm), Ropar (18 mm), Anandpur Sahib (36 mm) and Mohali (5 mm) were among other places in the state to be lashed by rains, the MET said here. In Haryana, Bilaspur was lashed by 46 mm showers, Jagadhri had 35 mm, Kalka 21 mm, Ambala 1 mm, Naraingarh 13 mm, Chhachrauli 30 mm and Jind had 9 mm rains.

Chandigarh was also lashed by 1 mm rain early morning today. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature in the region hovered below the 35 degrees Celsius mark.

The MET has forecast that light to moderate rains are likely to occur in the region during the next two days.
