New Delhi, September 01: Most parts of north India continued to receive rains today even as flood situation in Uttar Pradesh improved with major rivers receding.
Barring Sharda and Rapti, all other major rivers including Ganga, Yamuna and Ghaghra, were flowing much below the danger mark in Uttar Pradesh. In Gorakhpur district, 240 villages are waterlogged.
Over 1.22 lakh people from 1,537 flood-hit villages in the state had been shifted to safer places.
In the national capital, though a few places received showers, hot and humid conditions prevailed. Rain gauges measured 8 mm of rains as temperature rose marginally to 35.3 degree Celsius from yesterday’s 35 degrees. Humidity level touched a peak 86 per cent.
Heavy showers were recorded at a few places in Rajathan. Rawatsar received the maximum rainfall of 5 cm while Karanpur and Sadulshehar were drenched by 3 cm rainfall.
Churu remained the hottest place at a maximum temperature of 39 degrees Celsius. Bikaner and Jaisalmer were hot at 37 degrees.
After yesterday’s heavy downpour, rains continued in several areas of Punjab and Haryana. Bhagwara, Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Patiala witnessed good rains as mercury settled below 35 degrees in the region.
