Rains bring mercury down across Haryana, Punjab

Chandigarh: Maximum temperatures across Haryana and Punjab today dropped by a few notches below normal after rains lashed some parts of the two states.

The MeT department here has forecast more rains in the region over the next two days.

Rains lashed places including Hisar, Ambala, Karnal, Yamunanagar, Patiala and Ludhiana.

However, Chandigarh did not witness any rainfall during the day, even though the sky remained partly cloudy here. The maximum temperature settled at 31.2 degrees Celsius, down three notches.

In Haryana, Ambala recorded a high of 30.1 degrees C, Hisar 29 degrees C while pleasant weather prevailed in Karnal where the maximum temperature settled six notches below normal level at 27.2 degrees C.

In Punjab, Patiala recorded a maximum temperature of 30.6 degrees Celsius, down three notches; Ludhiana 31 degrees and Amritsar 32.8 degrees Celsius.
