YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MLAs here on Wednesday staged a dharna at Assembly Complex main gate here when the marshals refused to allow them along with mediapersons to enter the Assembly to find facts how rain water leaked into the chamber of Leader of the Opposition Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Tuesday.
After a shower at Amaravathi on Tuesday, the rain water leaked into the chamber of YSRCP president and Leader of the Opposition Jaganmohan Reddy. Aghast over the rain water entering into the newly built chamber of Leader of the Opposition on the Assembly premises after a little rain, the YSRCP legislators wanted to find the reason for the water leakage into the chamber in the Assembly complex in the so-called international standards’ Amaravathi. As part of fact-finding mission, the Opposition legislators, led by MP Appa Rao and A Rama Krishna Reddy went to the Assembly complex along with print and electronic media personnel. They wanted to inspect their leader’s chamber and Assembly in which rain water was leaked. However, the marshals refused to allow them to step into the Assembly premises leading to tense atmosphere at the media point. When the marshal stuck to their guns, the Opposition members sat in a dharna at the Assembly main gate with black cloth around their mouth. After an hour, they left the place. Later, Legislature Secretary Satyanarayana informed the YSRCP MLAs that the Speaker’s permission was needed to allow the media into the Assembly complex.
Talking to the media, Rama Krishna Reddy pointed out that Chief Minister N Chandrababau Naidu had said that Capital city was being constructed by the Singaporecompanies on par with international standards. He said the rain water leaked into Jaganmohan Reddy’s chamber as long as it was raining. The Assembly staff put buckets, when water was gushing from the roof into LoP’s chamber. The leaking of water was video graphed by some staffers using mobile phones and sent them to news channels.
Meanwhile, Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao, accompanied by officials inspected the Assembly complex and concluded that there was a conspiracy behind the rain water leakage into the LoP’s chamber. He strongly suspected that some mischief-mongers had cut water pipes to let in rain water into the building. The Speaker said has ordered a CBI probe into the water leakage affair. (NSS)
