Rain leads to drop in temperatures in Himachal

Shimla: The minimum temperature dropped marginally in Himachal Pradesh as it received scattered rains even as Shimla and surrounding areas were lashed by sharp showers, accompanied by strong winds.

Palampur was the wettest place as it gauged 24 mm of rainfall, Paonta Sahib 11 mm, Solan 9 mm, Shimla 7 mm, Seobagh 6 mm, Sundernagar and Jubbar Hatti 3 mm of precipitation.

The mercury dropped by a few notches in tribal areas and the higher hills. Keylong was the coldest place in the region at 7.7 degrees Celsius.

Kalpa and Manali recorded their minimum temperatures at 8.2 and 8.4, Shimla 11.6, Palampur 14, Bhuntar 14.4, Solan 15.8, Sundernagar and Nahan 17.2, Dharamsala 19.4 and Una 23.2 degrees Celsius.

Una was the hottest place in the region with a high of 36.6 degrees Celsius. Sundernagar had a high of 31.4, Bhuntar 29.2, Manali 29, Solan 27.5, Dharamsala 26.8, Shimla 22.5, Manali 20 and Kalpa 15.4.

The weatherman has predicted rains and thunderstorm in the mid hills over the next six days and dry weather in the lower and higher hills over the next three days.
