A woman working with Railways on Saturday alleged that four co- workers had gang- raped her for years in Sealdah. Three persons were arrested for the crime.
The victim, a married woman, had lodged an FIR with Dum Dum GRP on Friday, accusing four co- workers of Chitpur railyard in the city of gangraping her on several occasions inside the railyard.
“ They raped me for the last few years and whenever I asked them to stop, they threatened me to upload those obscene pictures on internet. They had also threatened to kill me,” the victim said in her complaint.
The victim, who had lost her husband in Gyaneshwari train accident in 2010, got a job in railways as a part of compensation package then. She alleged that the four tormentors used to molest and rape her inside a vacant railway compartment garaged in Chitpur railway yard, Superintendent of Railway Police ( Sealdah), Utpal Naskar, said.
Out of the four accused, three have been arrested. We are on a lookout for the fourth accused. We won’t reveal any further details as investigation is still on, he said adding Dum Dum GRP officer- in- charge Apurba Chakraborty has been closed for departmental inquiry over the victim’s allegations of negligence.
Eastern Railway CPRO R. N. Mahapatra said Railways has ordered a suo moto inquiry.
