Railway wagon catches fire, no casualty

Howrah (WB), October 13: Panic spread when a rail wagon loaded with coal caught fire near Sankrail rail station under Eastern Railway this afternoon.

Two fire tenders managed to douse the flames after fighting for one hour, fire brigade sources said.

There was no report of any casualty.

The flames, seen from the platform, at one time caused widespread panic with nearby shops downing shutters and people running away from the area.

The cause of the fire was not immediately clear.

The blaze, which broke out in the stranded wagon at rail yard, did not disrupt train movement.
