Railway exam in regional language

Kolkata, September 07: Candidates can take examinations for jobs in the railways in regional languages as well as Urdu, Railway Minister, Mamata Banerjee, said here on Sunday.

The options available now are Hindi and English.

Ms. Banerjee did not attend the day’s programme to flag off three new trains from the city, by remote control from Kolkata station. Trinamool Congress chief whip in the Lok Sabha, Sudip Bandhopadhyay, did the formalities.

The new railway services are the Sealdah-Rampurhat Express, the Howrah-Kharagpur Matribhumi Ladies Special Local and the Howrah-Tughlakabad Parcel Express.

The Barrackpore-Jhansi Weekly Express was also extended to Kolkata station.
