Hyderabad, October 12: Six railway employees were today arrested for their alleged involvement in cheating a nationalised bank to the tune of Rs 65 lakh by submitting forged documents. The railway employees conspired with a person and took loans from the bank by submitting forged documents, police said.
According to Central Crime Station (CCS) sleuths, the conspiracy was hatched by a builder, Kondal Rao, from ECIL in the city. Kondal Rao possessed a 650-square yard land at Saroornagar. Kondal Rao planned to dupe banks with the help of the land and lured 11 railway employees into the trap by offering them commission.
“Kondal Rao forged the salary slips of the railway employees with inflated figures and obtained loans by submitting the land documents. He obtained Rs 6 lakh loan on the name of each employee and gave a commission of Rs 20,000 to each of the employees,’’ CCS sleuths said. The loans were taken from Indian Bank in 2005.
As the loanees defaulted on paying the instalments, the bank served several notices but there was no response from the railway employees.
On inquiring into the details of the persons who obtained the loans, the bank authorities came to know that the documents submitted were forged. The bank authorities lodged a complaint with the CCS in 2009.
Investigating into the case, police today arrested six railway employees including grade-I helper R Lauren, section engineers Seshagiri Rao and B Raju, grade-I technician J Mallesh and two others, B Papaiah and M Jangaiah. Six other accused are absconding.
During the investigation, the CCS sleuths found that the conspirator, Kondal Rao, died six months back. It also came to light that Kondal Rao took loans from several other banks also by submitting the land documents.
